Lemons and Sugar as Exfoliators
September 5, 2014
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Add a little sugar and you have one of the best skin refreshers that can make your skin look radiant instantly. As the summer comes to an end, some can look in the mirror and see signs of skin damage and hyperpigmentation. Skin discoloration can look unhealthy and be a sign of premature aging. Who wants that? No worries, I have a simple solution for you!
There is one simple step you can follow to start recovering from sun damage. First, clean or wet the affected area or entire face. Using half an organic lemon or lime, dip it into some organic brown sugar and gently massage in a circular motion. Make sure you squeeze the lemon as you massage to get the juice out. Avoid the eyes and lips. Let it set for about 10 minutes. Rinse with fresh clean water.
The lemon and sugar mixture creates an alpha hydroxy acid, which has the same effect as a mild chemical peel, but without the burns and discomfort. This is nature at its best. You can only do this once or twice a month. However, if you find an organic scrub designed for the face you might be able to use it weekly to bring your skin to an even toned complexion and remove dark spots quicker. Make sure the skin scrub you choose is organic and has high quality ingredients.
