Ten Steps to Healthy Skin this Summer

Summer after summer I was concerned about skin discoloration caused by the sun. Multiple products claimed to protect my skin from burning, hyper-pigmentation, damage, and wrinkles. Unfortunately I was left very disappointed at the end of the summer with multiple dark spots on my face, a few extra wrinkles I didn't have before, and with a slightly aged and tired look on my face.
After much research and trying several methods and products, I found these easy steps worked best for me. Not only did I protect my skin last summer, but it actually looked much better at the end of the season.
So here are 10 steps to a better skin this summer:
1- Stay away from direct sunlight which your face is exposed to from 11am to 3pm. Always wear a hat and sunglasses, stay in the shade, under the umbrella or tree.
2- Enjoy the sun during the morning and late afternoon after 3pm safely. Use SPF 10 or higher when under direct sun light.
3- Use Almond oil daily or a lotion that contains organic almond oil with an SPF 15-30 to protect your skin during the summer. Almond oil has been scientifically proven to protect skin from UV and UB damaging sun light in lab testing.
4- Cleanse skin well twice a day to prevent excess oils from clogging the pores, causing break outs from sunscreen lotions and natural oils.
5- Tan for only 20 min a day. Do it safely by laying out in the sun during safe hours of the day for several consecutive days until you have achieve the desired skin tone.
6- Apply sun protection every 30 min to 1 hour if you are enjoying water sports and sweating under the sun.
7- Apply lotion with licorice extract or any other skin lightening herbs such as Mulberry, Kojic or Chamomile if you already have dark spots. Apply twice a day to prevent hyper-pigmentation and lighten any dark spots you may already have.
8- Exfoliate twice a week to help remove darkened skin cells and keep your skin toned and fresh looking.
9- Use Clarifying Facial Toner twice a day. I tend to mix almond oil with my toner in my hands rubbing them together until emulsified then I apply to face liberally.
10- Moisturize your skin to prevent dehydration and wrinkles. Choose a light cream, oil-free or with the least oil possible to apply at night. Let your skin breath freely and enjoy the benefits of the skin lightening herbs.
These simple steps have helped me maintain great skin through the summer. I know for sure these will help you as well. Enjoy the summer activities joyfully and knowing you will look radiant and healthy at all times.
